Congratulations to Scott Hamman and 1-day partner Dan McIlroy for their win at the Sacramento Delta for the 2013 TOC. Scott said he went up river and fished “old water” from his past fishing logs and threw the R2S Whopper Plopper all day. They brought in 17+ lb on day one, including the TOC big fish at around 7.26 lb, and 14+ lb on day 2, including a 5+ pound kicker in the last 1/2 hour, for the “W”!
2nd Place went to Howard Swartz and Cedric Wong. They had nearly 12 lb on day 1 and 16+ lb on day 2. They got most of their bites on soft plastics drop-shotted on day 1, but found a good reaction bite on day 2, including a 6-1/2 and nearly 5 lb kickers.
3rd place was taken by Kris Sisto and Mark Keyes. They brought 12+ lb on day 1, then followed that with 15+ lb on day 2, including 2nd big fish at 7.03 lb.
Anglers braved temperamental weather on day 1, with heavy rains starting around 10- 11am, lasting nearly till weigh in at 3 pm. Day 2 appeared to threaten rain, but did not. It was not too windy as in a usual post front situation. There was also an excellent TOC dinner at Pete’s Steakhouse in Isleton, just a short drive from B&W (the host site this year). Participants also got a nice sun-protection TOC shirt and a Lucky Craft crankbait!
Congratulations to all qualifiers and participants!
