Who We Are
The Folsom Bass Team started in 1988 as a group of Folsom prison guards who had a passion for bass fishing. In fact, the club meetings used to be held at the prison itself. Since its humble beginnings, the membership has grown and we now have members of all skill level and age. FBT’s mission is to provide its members with opportunities to learn about bass fishing in our local area through monthly meetings and tournaments. We emphasize the camaraderie and fun that comes from the sport of bass fishing.
Our club members are both new and seasoned tournament bass anglers. For some, tournament bass fishing is brand new and FBT is a great place to cut their teeth. Many members of FBT also compete in other NorCal circuits such as the Future Pro Tour (FPT), and Best Bass Tournaments (BBT) as well as others. Some of our members have honed their skills and advanced to the pro level and compete at the highest level!
HOW DOES FBT WORK?
We fish a shared weight team tournament format once a month and teams are chosen by random draw, pairing a boater and non-boater. We generally change lakes each month to fish water at their best times. Some of the water we regularly fish include Clear Lake, the California Delta, Lake Berryessa, Folsom Lake, Lake Camanche, Lake Oroville, Bullards Bar, and many others. Our club season runs from October to August, with the Tournament of Champions in September.
We meet once a month on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm. Meetings are online via Zoom, and in-person at Sierra View Country Club in Roseville. Most months we have well-known guest speakers from the bass fishing industry to talk about the latest techniques, baits, etc.. We also run a raffle with great prizes. FBT annual dues are $20.
If you love bass fishing, are looking for a fun group to fish with and like the excitement of competition then this is the club for you!
